Urban planning (urban, city, and town planning) is a technical and political process concerned with the use of land and design of the urban environment, including transportation networks, to guide and ensure the orderly development of settlements and communities. The department of Urban & Regional Planning (URP) at RUET has started its’ academic program in 2011 with a view to guiding orderly development at the urban, rural, regional and local levels.  The preliminary concern of the department to educate and create expertise on different sub-fields like  land-use planning, zoning, economic development, environmental planning, and transportation planning. Working arena of the faculties and graduates concerned with research and analysis, strategic thinking, urban design, public consultation, policy recommendations, implementation and management.
